One of the fast rising and budding Islamic acts in Nigeria, Azakir Afolabi Tajudeen has released a tribute album in honour of his late father, Alaaji Afolabi who passed on two years ago.
The handsome singer dedicated the whole album in honour of the departed soul. In his words, Omo Jeeje as he fondly called said ‘My father. I have no idea what you are doing or where you are reborn.. It exactly two years since you have left ,It is just so disheartening each day I wake up wit the knowledge that you are not more. My Lovely dad(Abefeade Omo Afolabi).Dad, You know we have a lot of dreams at hand yet to be materialized, having gone throhu several hardship in my studies and Islamic musical career in life. I could vividly remember how often I sing (Zikir)for you while you dance and your golden words during my university days…Like you do say- Determination,Prayer and Hardwork will make you a better person in life. Dad,having gone through several hardship together in life, It is very sad i have to let you go even before I was able to pay u back for everything.
My father, My friend..
This is to me you have always been,
Through the good times and the bad,
Ur understanding I have had.
A gentle man at heart,
Laughter we have shared,
The tears I have shed ,
U have always been there with a smile and hug,
The lesson in life that I have learned,
Are from yur genuine love and concern.
Dad, I have had to rely on the foundation you established and the teaching you provided me as a child growing up.
