BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the Awami League-led government has turned into a “heavy burden” for the nation as it has destroyed the country’s independence and sovereignty.
“The government is a heavy burden for the nation. This will have to be removed and a transparent general election is needed for this removal,” Fakhrul said while addressing a programme in Dhaka marking the 53rd birth anniversary of Tarique Rahman, senior vice chairman of the party.
Claiming that the prospects of the country has been destroyed in planned way by an unelected government, the BNP leader said, “We will have to go for a strong resistance.”
He said the country is passing through a tough time as its economy, independence and sovereignty have been destroyed.
Fakhrul also asked his party men to inform the government’s misdeeds and mismanagements visiting door to door of the people across the country to build public sentiment against the government.
